Currency

The official currency is the Jamaican Dollar (JMD) and the United States Dollar (USD) is widely accepted. Licensed cambio centers and commercial banks are accessible in Montego Bay. The official currency exchange rates vary daily and a Bureau de exchange is located at the airport.

Credit card information

Visa, MasterCard, Cirrus and Plus cards are generally accepted in hotels, restaurants and stores. ATMs are available at your conference hotel.

Jamaica boasts a tropical climate and temperatures on the plain vary between 80 – 90 degrees Fahrenheit (27 – 32 degrees Celsius).

There are a number of hospitals and medical centres which serve the city of Montego Bay, including

For travel to Jamaica, it is recommended that you secure health insurance before arrival.

Yellow Fever

There is no risk of yellow fever in Jamaica. However, the Jamaican government requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for travellers arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. Check here for the list of countries.

Connections

If you are planning to book a flight with one or more stops, ensure that each stop has at least three hours layover. For indirect flights, please check the visa rules applied by transit countries.
